Best Foot Forward

.
I've been collecting inspiration for a styling project and have been thinking about Ricardo Tisci's Fall 2008 ready-to-wear collection for Givenchy. These would fit right in.

The Addams Family

.
I don't know...that was just my first thought. They played basketball, right?

Ricardo Tisci's stated inspiration for the collection: the movie Metropolis (1927, Fritz Lang) and the theme music from the Soviet film Aelita: Queen of Mars (1924). Always so interesting to see what designers choose to reference.

The Dune Sea

.
I just ran across images from this shoot by photographer Marlene Marino in Purple Fashion no.15, featuring Sarah Heller and Valerie Gold in Givenchy SS2011.

Marino has a truly unique point of view – click here to see more of her work.

This is definitely the summer of the wedge - so many good choices. (Those of us in the PNW just have to be optimists and believe that we still get that season here.)

$3495 at alexandermcqueen.com.

A few other random suggestions, more reasonably priced (more or less) after the jump.

Chinoise

.

Behind the scenes of Givenchy Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2011. Rumors are flying that Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci has been picked to replace John Galliano at Dior but apparently no final decisions have been made.

Dark Drama

.
Givenchy pre-Fall 2011. I love all the layers (living in Seattle necessitates lots of attention to this aspect of dressing), and some of the proportions (cropped pants with boots; high-waisted, above-the-knee skirts) look fresh.

See the whole collection at fashiongonerogue.com.

Image of the Day

.
I like the intensity of the red in this image from the new Givenchy campaign, especially in contrast with the background – an unexpected combo and a nice counterpoint to ubiquitous (and much-loved) camel and navy.

Kind of reminds me of Vincent Gallo's red boots in Buffalo 66. Photos by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
