Image Collector

.
Some images that have caught my eye recently from around the world wide internet:

Street fashion shot at Jak & Jil

Rowena Sartin FW2010 – photo by Kyle Johnson. I love that shirt thing (not for me, for a lady, in case that is somehow unclear). Via ʜᴎᴦᴙ ᴳᵀᴴᴿ

Vintage Porsche (I think it's a 912 or a maybe a 911t?) via JJJJound

Unpublished photo of Isabeli Fontana in Alaïa by Ezra Petronio, from the forthcoming Self Service issue 33. (More on that later.)

Someone's Life by Gerard Malanga, published by Mörel (via The Silver Lining)

Bike shelf

Christian Rizzo | l’association Fragile: b.c, janvier 1545, fontainebleau at On The Boards through Sunday. Really deserves its own post.

EL GUINCHO | Bombay from MGdM | Marc Gómez del Moral. Not really into the song but I like the vidoe. Via Wooooo.

Our oyster tab from an early dinner at
The Walrus and the Carpenter in Ballard last night.
Things like this make me proud to be from the Northwest.

Sequels

.
For whatever reason, in collecting old records, as I somewhat continue to do, I often gravitate toward soundtracks. I picked up a few recently and present them here for your viewing and listening pleasure.

They Call Me Mister Tibbs – 1970 sequel to In The Heat of the Night (click here for the trailer)

Quincy Jones "Call Me Mister Tibbs"

In Like Flint – 1967 sequel to Our Man Flint. (trailer)

Jerry Goldsmith "In Like Flint"

Emmanuelle 2 – 1976 sequel to, um, Emmanuelle (boring but just to be consistent: trailer)

Francis Lai "Les Fantasmes d'Emmanuelle"

Best Foot Forward

I nominate these, by Kermit Tesoro. Good for Halloween, Día de los Muertos, and everyday toughness.

Select spread from a collaboration by photographer Wendy Bevan and London-born, Seattle-based illustrator Izzie Klingels for Test Magazine. Come Clean

.
Chloe Spring 2011.
Phoebe Philo's influence is clear,
but Hannah MacGibbon
has had plenty of company
on that score (notwithstanding the resurgence
of color on the Spring runways).

If it's good, it's good.

As long as we're on the subject of the recent revival of 90s minimalism – some classic Premier to start your day:

Broken Social Scene "Romance to the Grave"
from
Forgiveness Rock Record (Arts & Crafts, 2010)

Produced by Sam Prekop and sounds a lot like the Sea & Cake, which I don't mind one bit. Both groups will be at the Paramount in Seattle on October 15th (I usually shy away from big shows like that but I'm a little tempted). They're also releasing a split 7" with two previously unreleased tracks at the end of the month – click
here for info/pre-ordering.

George Plimpton with Mr. Puss. Photo by Nancy Crampton from the New York Times

The Paris Review recently posted its entire archive of author interviews online. Here's the introduction to George Plimpton's interview of Ernest Hemingway, from the Spring 1958 issue:

HEMINGWAY

You go to the races?

INTERVIEWER

Yes, occasionally.

Then you read the Racing Form . . . . There you have the true art of fiction.

Image of the Day

.
On Saturday afternoon this impression of a hawk appeared on our window. We're thinking that maybe our small cat Inez was sitting on the sill and the hawk dove down to get her, not realizing the window was there.

Yesterday morning we went to see if there was a bird on the ground in the park below the window, but didn't find one... so we're hoping it survived and that it means good luck for everyone.
