Material Inspiration

.

For me this show is just about worth a trip to NYC.

Starting tomorrow at Salon 94 Freemans, British fashion designer Duro Olowu curates Material, a pop-up shop and gallery show that includes designs from Olowu's Spring 2012 collection, alongside objects – art and otherwise – that have inspired him. Assembled in a similar vein as the items found in Olowu's shop in London will be a selection of vintage and contemporary photography, textiles, furniture, music, books, found objects, and contemporary art – including illustrations by the lovely and talented Bella Foster. (Bella!)

Kate Spadin'

.
Remember Bella Foster? Well it seems Kate Spade is also a big fan of hers, as they've asked Bella to collaborate with them on several projects, including a calendar and some really beautiful handbags.
We think that's really cool, despite the fact that they use the word "whimsical" on their website. Check it all out at katespade.info and see more of Bella's recent work at Here, There, And Them.

House Painting

Steve Keister and Jill Levine's place

Our good friend Bella Foster, an artist I've mentioned in previous posts, has a new blog project this summer: Here There and Them features her "paintings of other people's stuff," and offers a refreshing take on the endless images of apartments and living spaces to be found across the web.

Painter in Your Pocket

I mentioned our old friend (and Northwest native) Bella Foster awhile ago, and I'm excited to announce that her new portfolio just went online at the venerable Art Department. Check it out here.

Every Single Post Means Something

Check it: Marnie Stern's new record just came out, with artwork by our good buddy Bella Foster. It's called This Is It and I Am It and You Are It and So Is That and He Is It and She Is It and It Is It and That Is That and it's the follow up to her first album, In Advance of the Broken Arm, which is brilliant and complex enough that I still hear all kinds of new stuff every time I listen to it. Go get it at Kill Rock Stars or emusic or wherever you buy your music.
