Handi-Van

.
The other day we drove by this truck in my mom's neighborhood (Madison Valley) and I had to stop and take a picture. The scale is not really translated in the photos but it's a tiny little van, like a toolbox with wheels. You see a lot of vans this size in Europe but not so much in the States anymore.

If 'graphic designer' was the kind of profession that required house calls, this would be a good company rig.

Having watched Helvetica, I have become much more conscious of type faces - what is the type face on this van?

I'm not sure, I would say it's probably a custom typeface (some designer in Detroit...) because the italics seem more angled forward than usual. Hey, this van is handi and everything, but it's also got places to go.

The straightness of the round stroke of the D probably says it is not Helvetica... I would guess they started with Franklin Gothic and modified it maybe?

Will think about that.
