Also tonight—CMRTYZ presents:Cassie Ramone (Vivian Girls, The Babies) is installing an aisle of Walgreen's - not a realistic, actual aisle, but rather a "super-aisle" filled with products sold at big-name drugstores that she's attracted to. So far, items for inspiration are: boxes of hair dye, waxing/hair removal products, fake nails/eyelashes, Hanes t-shirts and underwear, condoms, cosmetics aisle items such as lipstick and nail polish, chapstick, the magazine rack, Ziploc bags, As Seen On TV products, fungal cream, wrist braces, and surely there will be many more to come. Thick lines on the wall to represent "shelves" and on pricing- the pieces will be determined by moving the decimal point on the actual product over one (if a box of hair dye is $8.99 the piece will be $89).Plus: after party with The Pharmacy, Cassie Ramone, TacocaT, Battle Stations. When I'm Gone

Conversations Regarding The Future of Architecture, a vinyl record pressed by the Reynolds Metal Company in 1956, featuring interviews with Mies van der Rohe, Walter Gropius, Eero Saarinen, Richard Neutra, Philip Johnson, and others.
I narrowly missed out on acquiring this while we were in New York. Emily and I were having a beer and some snackies at The Magician on Rivington Street last Friday evening before joining our friends and family at Arrow Bar, as is our way. At 6:58PM Eastern Daylight Time the weekly e-mail from Seattle's Wall of Sound Records came across my crackleberry. I immediately went outside to call the store and see if they could save it for me if I paid by credit card right then and there. Alas, by the time I called, three other people had already done the same and it was gone.
It has been added to the want list. Some day it will be mine.
For now I am consoling myself with sounds from the Vivian Girls' new LP Everything Goes Wrong. You should do the same. Here's a sample (via GvB). Play it loud:

Official economic recession notwithstanding, I picked up a couple records at Wall of Sound the other day:

Vivian Girls Blind Spot mp3 (Daisy Chain cover)
Order it directly from In the Red and get more info, blog, tour dates, and the VIVIAN GIRLS SURF'S UP FUN PACK! at viviangirls.net.
I took a chance on this 7", I liked the cover. It's from a local label called dirty knobby.
Oh also, Emily pointed out that two of the above covers have planes on them.
