Mental Mannequin show poster by Barbara Ireland (ca. early '80s), on view as part of Thunderbitch: Women Designers in Northwest Rock, 1966–2010 at Tether Design Gallery. It was hard to pick a favorite image – this is just one of many greats in the show. There are some amazing zine covers as well. Info and many more images at thunderbitch.com. A book is also forthcoming – donate to the cause at Kickstarter.

Antanarjuat (The Fast Runner), 2001.
Inexplicably, my second ice-related post of the day... I was recently reminded somewhere of this movie, which I think Emily and I saw kind of by accident, killing time one afternoon when it was in theaters. Check it out on DVD, more info here.

The New Norwegian Opera and Ballet, by Oslo-based architecture firm Snøhetta – from this angle at least, I like how it evokes shards/sheets of ice coming out of the water (click to enlarge). Snøhetta was recently chosen to build the forthcoming new addition to SFMOMA – see more of the firm's projects at snoarc.no

Salmon swimming from saltwater to freshwater through the Ballard Locks fish ladder.
That's what I said, the fish ladder.
Check it out while you can, it's peak season.
