On view at Yossi Milo, NYC, as part of a posthumous exhibition of Hetherington's photography and video. (Hetherington, who documented conflicts in the Middle East and West Africa throughout his career, was killed in 2011 while shooting in Liberia.) Through May 19.
Mika Tajima, After the Martini Shot (installation view)
If you're in town tomorrow, stop by SAM to see (or see again) Mika Tajima's installation, After the Martini Shot, and watch a collaborative performance with designer Mary Ping (shot by Charlie Schuck):
Throughout the day, the exhibition functions as an open set photo shoot
directed by the artist and the designer, involving models and a
photography crew. Using folding and pleating techniques to create
collaborative sculptural garments from printed images, the collaborators
extend the topography of the objects by folding the entire scene into
the subject of photography production.
Wrap party with the artists and Marisa C. Sánchez, Associate Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, from 4-6 p.m. at TASTE Restaurant.
More infohere, and see more of Mika's fantastic work at her website.
On view at White Cube, London as part of the show "London Pictures." The pieces in the exhibition are based on posters of newspaper headlines collected around the city and organized according to recurring words.
