. TV on the Radio "Satellite" from TV on the Radio (2003, Touch and Go)
Pitchfork announced yesterday that a new TV on the Radio album, Nine Types of Light, is due this Spring. I realize that a lot of people have become cynical about them (I myself was disappointed in their last album) but the fact remains that a 2006 Kyp Malone solo show at North Six remains in my top 5 shows of all time, and I'm pretty sure that as a group they still have a ton of interesting ideas to explore.

When I discover a song I like, I tend to listen to it over and over again. Walking to my office takes about 20 minutes, and I'll repeat the same song the whole time, and when I walk home I'll do it again.
Here's what I've been listening to the past few days:
The way the song starts goes well with walking out into a clear cold morning before the sun has changed everything. I'm always extra aware of details in my neighborhood at that time of day (the dew on the pine needles, crows on the telephone wires...junkies in the alley) and the noise and cadence in this song kind of magnify that. The vocals are kind of flawed in parts but I don't mind – in this case it makes them seem more personal or vulnerable.
Telepathe's new album Dance Mother, produced by David Andrew Sitek of TV on the Radio, came out last week on IAMSOUND Records. A bunch of artists (Diplo, No Age, Abe Vigoda) made little videos talking about it. Here's what Andy Milonakis had to say:
Well put, brother. More info on Telepathe at their website and at myspace.com/telepathe. You can find Dance Mother at your favorite local record store, download it from emusic, or buy it directly from IAMSOUND.
. Big day on the political front. I've got WNYC with Brian Lehrer in one ear, and Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews, and their gang of slightly lesser blow-hards in the other. (Actually, I think a lot of them are okay—only Buchanan seriously lowers the bar. Would anyone notice or care if someone just locked the McLaughlin Group in their studio?)Where is Gwen Ifill when I need her? Gwen?
Anyway, it's looking like Obama took Vermont, Clinton took Rhode Island, and Ohio and Texas are still too close to call. Seems like it's going to come down to Pennsylvania, the super-delegate fight, and the possible (unsportsmanlike) do-overs in Michigan and Florida.
But I digress. I have no intention of making this a political blog, even as obsessed with the race as I am. Back to the pictures and records.
In lieu of any good Obama-related songs surfacing so far, here are my two favorite anti-Bush/anti-war cuts from the past several years.
