Last night my mom, Emily and I went to see Patti Smith play a few songs and read from her new memoir Just Kids. It was great, the most inspiring thing I have witnessed for a long time. I'm too swamped to write much about it right now but just wanted to mention it, and to post a link to a very good recent interview with her on Fresh Air.

That was a great interview. I sat in my car listening, making myself late for work. She seems like such a warm, kind person. Sharing her relationship with Robert M. with the world must be painful but she does it with amazing grace. She's way cool.
I think she is able to naturally rise above the self-conscious, self-obsessed trap so many artists find themselves in and this allows her to express herself in a very real and unique way.
I BLEW IT BIG TIME...It was like 5 of my friends Birth Day bash and I had to miss it really bummed out glad you made it for me.
